The talk about Abbotsford 2001:
Overheard in a Southern Manitoba service station:
A man waiting for his car asked a friend, "So, did you go the Mennonite Church Canada Assembly in Abbotsford this summer?"
The friend replied, "No, but my wife did."
"And how was it?" he asked.
"Well, she thought it was really good, but then she dropped in at the youth assembly, and she said that was just GREAT! She told me that if the youth pastor at our church doesn't want to take the youth to the assembly in Saskatoon next summer - SHE WILL!"
In the Colombia Bible College parking lot at the end of Youth Assembly:
As Abe Bergen (youth assembly coordinator) was packing up his van after the service, a young man ran up to him and said, "Can you add this five bucks to the offering? I forgot my wallet in my room this morning."
Abe said, "Sure," and took the money. Then looking down at his nearly empty wallet, the young man said, "Here, take some more!" and dumped the rest into Abe's hand. Smiling, he got on his bus full of tired and happy friends, and headed for home.
The youth assembly participants donated over $1400 in their Sunday morning offering at Abbotsford 2001.

This is the daily newssheet from the Abbotsford 2001 annual assembly of Mennonite Church Canada.
What is God doing?
Our theme, What is God doing?, is based on Micah 4:2: "And many nations shall come and say, 'Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us in his ways, and that we may walk in his paths.' For out of Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem." (NRSV)
Our Meeting Place for Abbotsford 2001 was Central Heights Church, 1661 McCallum Road, Abbotsford, BC.
