Tour Leaders: Andrew & Karen Suderman and Daniel Horne

Andrew & Karen Suderman

Andrew & Karen Suderman, Mennonite Church Canada Witness, work directly with churches to rediscover the gospel of reconciling love, peace and justice in a post-apartheid context and a culture deeply impacted by HIV-AIDS.

Daniel Horne is the Director of Partnership Development, Church Engagement for Mennonite Church Canada. Daniel has traveled extensively in Canada, the United States and Internationally.

Where are we going?

Join us as we explore South Africa. Landing in Johannesburg you will travel to beautiful Cape Town, follow the Garden Route to places like Mthatha, Ado Elephant Park and Pietermaritzburg. Along the way, you will see hands-on what Mennonite Church Canada is doing, worship with local people in the black townships, and experience the day to day lives of Karen and Andrew Suderman as they work with faith communities in a culture that is hungry for reconciliation and peace in this expansive country.

This will be an exciting, fun filled trip. Participants experience the beauty of the countryside, the ocean, and the wild life – and gain insights into the poverty and a history of racial inequality in South Africa.

What will we be doing?

Mennonite Church Canada Learning Tours help Canadian Mennonites connect with what God is doing in different parts of the world. The group will gather daily for times of worship, reflection and conversation. Together, we will gain a greater appreciation for God’s creation in South Africa and God’s wonderful work of reconciliation, hope and healing.

We are inviting anyone who is willing to participate in the activities of a rich cross-cultural experience. You will be physically fit enough to walk some distances and handle your own luggage.
