Invitation to multi-cultural ministries consultation

Winnipeg, Man.—Mennonite Church Canada Witness will be hosting a multi-cultural ministries consultation immediately following Saskatoon 2002—the annual assembly of Mennonite Church Canada.

The July 7 event is inspired by Hugo Neufeld’s (Trinity MC, Calgary) report entitled the Diversity Project (see Canadian Mennonite, Volume 6, number 2 January 28, 2002, page 16-17). The consultation will gather leaders from multi-cultural and host congregations to work at common objectives and celebrate God at work in MC Canada congregations. The entire Diversity Project report is accessible here.

The invitation is open to anyone who is interested, but specifically aims for representatives from host congregations (congregations who have exercised openness to multi-cultural or cross-cultural ministry),congregations representing cultures and ethnic backgrounds newer to the Mennonite Church, and area conferences. Mennonite Church Canada Witness staff will also be on hand.

Anyone wishing to attend should contact Samson Lo, Director of Multi-cultural Ministry - Mennonite Church Canada Witness (1720 Graveley Street, Vancouver BC V5L 3B1; Tel/Fax: (604) 254-2772; Pager: (604) 642-2057; Email: slo@mennonitechurch.ca). A detailed invitation has already been sent to congregations in the April-May issue of Equipping and will be included with Saskatoon 2002 registration packets.
