Assembly report book available on-line

Winnipeg, Man.— The assembly report book for Saskatoon 2002 is available for download from Mennonite Church Canada's web site. The print version should be arriving in congregations at the same time as this edition of Canadian Mennonite (May 20, 2002).

This year’s 72 page report book is a virtual compendium of news, notes, updates, discernment issues and agenda, proposals, and photos from Mennonite Church Canada, area conferences, and partner institutions.

"We’ve really encouraged council members, staff, and related organizations to tell a story with their reports. Most of the time it works," said Dan Dyck, director of communications, "and makes for an engaging read."

Dyck notes that the MC Canada office received requests for Abbotsford 2001 report books well after the assembly was over, suggesting that there is growing interest in the book and that its shelf-life is increasing. "It’s gradually becoming a reference book that people refer to through-out the year," said Dyck.

The downloadable version has the added benefit of offering keeners a sneak peek of what will be covered at the assembly, as well as being able to offer the most up-to-date information. "There are inevitably some errors that creep into a project of this size. Being able to update the version that’s available on-line helps everyone keep current," added Dyck.
