Horsch to assume editorial leadership of Adult Bible Study and new teacher resource

September 25, 2002

Winnipeg, Man.—James E. Horsch will assume editorial leadership for Adult Bible Study and the new Adult Bible Study Teacher beginning with the Summer 2003 issues of these publications, announced Phil Bontrager, interim CEO of Mennonite Publishing House.

Adult Bible Study Teacher, a new publication emerging out of the “Adult Teacher” section of Builder Uniform Series will be released next spring for use in summer. Both editions of Builder—Uniform Series and General—will end in May 2003. In addition to the new Adult Bible Study Teacher, a new quarterly leadership journal to replace Builder General will begin with the Fall 2003 issue.

Adult Bible Study is based on the International Bible Lessons and provides weekly Anabaptist Bible study for Mennonite congregations.

"This change will provide a successful teacher quarterly for Adult Bible Study and also allow for the emergence of a new leadership quarterly containing the popular Advent and Lent worship resources," said editorial vice-president Levi Miller. "Combining responsibility for Adult Bible Study and Adult Bible Study Teacher under one editor will improve coordination and efficiencies."

Horsch, an editor with Mennonite Publishing House since 1968, is currently located in Goshen, Indiana, and will continue his responsibilities with Purpose magazine and Mennonite Bulletin Series. Mennonite Publishing House is working with staff from both Mennonite Church Canada and Mennonite Church USA to develop the new leadership journal.
