MC Canada releases financial update

Winnipeg, Man.— Mennonite Church Canada donation revenue results are in for the period of Feb. 1 to May 31.

Reports show that overall giving is behind target by $87,000, or about 10 percent. Congregational giving is just 1 percent shy of target – an equivalent of $7,000 – essentially meeting target figures for this fiscal year to date. Al Rempel, director of resource development, said “Things appear to be balancing out as some congregations are increasing giving while others have reduced giving.” Individual and corporate donations are 40 percent short of hoped for support for this time period ($80,000). Year-to-date expenses are within budget.

Rempel adds, “It’s too early to see a trend, but we are concerned that ministries at home and around the world continue to find full support. Each congregation and each individual who chooses to support the ministry we share in MC Canada is making a tremendous impact on individuals. We are so thankful for the many partners that make our shared ministry possible and look forward to their continued support this year.”

The MC Canada general board is keeping a close eye on these financial results and will be reviewing the situation at a meeting in July.
