Macau — In less than four months, Tim and Cindy Buhler (centre), new-to-Macau Mennonite Church Canada Witness workers, were able to find a new space for rent just one block from their previous location – a miracle given the high demand for space in this city-state of nearly half a million people which one can walk around in a couple of hours. Renovations have been largely completed and the group celebrated a service of dedication on Nov 21 – though they are still seeking funds to pay for appropriate front doors. The ministry offers an English teaching program, after school tutoring for students, and a youth activity program. Macau is a gambling and prostitution destination for mainland Chinese. A solid core of 15-20 mostly younger, single people worship in the Macau church. In July, the team was suddenly informed that their former location had been sold, and that they had to vacate their rented premises.
