Winnipeg, Man. — Peter Rempel celebrated over 30 years of ministry and service to the church – and received a blessing on his transition to a new role as executive director of Mennonite Central Committee Manitoba. Friends and colleagues presented him with a collection of ‘hats’ he has worn over the years: Mennonite Church Canada, Mennonite Heritage Centre, Mennonite Central Committee, Commission on Overseas Mission, Africa Inter-Mennonite Mission, Council of International Ministries, Mennonite World Conference, Global Mission Fellowship, and Camps with Meaning. At one point, Rempel wore as many as four of those hats simultaneously. Several speakers noted his credibility as a consensus builder and a willing traveler to mission outposts in remote parts of Africa and the former Soviet Union.
