Mennonite Church Canada Statement: CPT captives in Iraq |
|||||||||
| Dec 6, 2005 Winnipeg, Man. Mennonite Church Canada stands in solidarity with Christian Peacemaker Teams and its missing team members in Iraq: Harmeet Singh Sooden, James Loney, Norman Kember, and Tom Fox. CPT has worked in Iraq since 2002, seeking to put a human face on a great human tragedy. We have no reason to believe that the missing individuals are anything other than committed peace makers, who chose to risk their lives by working for peaceful solutions to conflict as a counterpoint to the way soldiers choose to risk their lives for violent solutions to conflict. These missing individuals and their families are being held in our hearts and minds. We appeal to their hosts for the safe return of the missing four. Our thoughts and hopes are also with the hosts. May they be touched by their guests' sincere humanitarian desire for an end to human conflict, to the point of release and reconciliation. See the CPT site for more information. |
