January 5, 2008 Winnipeg, Man. — A new “Who are the Mennonites?” display first discussed ten years ago was dedicated at the Mennonite Heritage Centre Archives and Art Gallery here on Dec. 16. Director Alf Redekopp said that about 75% of visitors to the Centre have never visited before, prompting many questions about Mennonites. Visitors include genealogy researchers, students, and art appreciators. “We pray that you may all be able to make use of this exhibit when you have guests that have that as their question,” said Redekopp to a gathering of Mennonite Church Canada and Canadian Mennonite University staff, faculty, and friends. Ray Dirks (left) designed the display, Dr. John J. Friesen (right), retired CMU professor researched and wrote the text. Alf Redekopp (centre) provided leadership and saw the project through to completion. The project was generously funded by private donors. |
