Call to prayer for flood victims in Southern Saskatchewan/Alberta |
|||||
June 25 WINNIPEG, MB - Mennonite Church Canada has issued a call to prayer for residents of south-western Saskatchewan and south-eastern Alberta who were struck by heavy rains and severe flooding on June 20. As well, Lethbridge Mennonite Church, Rosemary Mennonite Church and Coaldale Mennonite Church are located within the flood region. Farmers have experienced crop losses and several homes have flooded basements, significantly affecting their communities. Lethbridge Mennonite Church has called its Crisis Response committee together and they are currently discerning next steps including conversations with Mennonite Disaster Service. Please join in prayer those in Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan. Pray that despite the challenges ahead, they will not be discouraged and that they will feel God's loving and concerned presence through the responses of neighbours, the community, and the church. Pray also for the Lethbridge Mennonite Church Crisis Response committee as they determine the most appropriate ways to respond in their community. |
