Winnipeg, Man. — In the coming months Mennonite Church Canada will be launching its first major web site upgrade since 2002.

The first component to go live will be a completely new donation portal that will allow donors to choose projects by theme, by country, or by worker. The new portal will feature a completely new graphical interface, photos, and concise descriptions of giving projects that will help individuals and congregations select ministries – though donors will be encouraged to also give to the “where most needed” category.

Over the two year research and design phase, staff looked at many other charitable organization web sites and consulted with those considered to have best practice. Specialists were engaged for high level programming matters.

The new donate portal will be used as a design template for a rebuilding of the entire site.

New sections of the web site will be phased in as they are completed. Existing web pages that contain old information will be archived and remain available, but retain the old design and interface.

The new system will comply with accepted online financial security protocols and Canada Revenue Agency requirements.
