Goulet is new director of outreach

Winnipeg, Man.—Jean Jacques Goulet has accepted the position of director of Outreach and Church Planting with Mennonite Church Canada. Goulet, a French Canadian, currently pastors Holyrood Mennonite Church in Edmonton.

Goulet will begin his 60 percent position for the Ministries Commission on August 15 and will work out of Montreal, where he and his wife Lucille Marr will share in pastoring the Montreal Mennonite Fellowship.

"He has a passion for this kind of work, for church planting and the church itself," said Jack Suderman, executive secretary of the Ministries Commission. Suderman cited Goulet's administrative skills, pastoral experience and a talent for networking as qualities that recommend him. Goulet served on the board of Mennonite Board of Missions for a number of years.

Relating to a staff person several provinces away from Winnipeg will present some challenges, but, Suderman said, "we think it will be very good actually to have a staff person in Quebec," a province where MC Canada is eager to build new relationships.
