- The ministry of
language learning: Todd and Jeanette Hanson, MC Canada Witness
workers in China (photos)
international workers need to spend time learning a new language before
they feel ready to start their work. Jeanette and Todd Hanson, however,
see that language learning itself is a ministry and a vital part of their
assignment with China Educational Exchange (CEE).
"Learning Chinese is not preparation for witnessing, it is witnessing,"
said Todd. "Just wanting to learn about Chinese language and Chinese
culture shows that you respect them, that you value what they value."
In other words, it demonstrates love, "in the way we treat our colleagues
and our students."

- What if?
Theme for Assembly 2003 (photos)
What if we really understood ourselves as partners with God? This and
other "what if" questions were explored, dissected, and reassembled
as Mennonite Church Canada's program committee, prayed, worshipped, discerned
scripture, and wrestled with a variety of theme ideas for next year's annual
assembly in the St. Catharines, Ontario area (July 9-13, 2003).
2002 evaluations in: What folks said about Assembly 2003
Planning an assembly that pleases most of the people most of the time is
a huge project. This year, over 200 volunteers from Mennonite Church Saskatchewan
contributed to the effort. Thank-you! Judging from the evaluation responses,
both volunteers and staff did a generally satisfactory job of planning and
carrying out the assembly in Saskatoon.
Directory now available
This year’s edition of the Mennonite Church Canada directory marks
the return to a previous tradition of a Canadian-only church directory.
