Historical note

Rockway Mennonite Church was founded in 1960 in Kitchener, Ontario. It was an outreach of the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener. Since its founding it has used the Rockway Mennonite Collegiate as its meeting house. In 1963 there were 55 members. It stayed at that number until the late 1970s. By 1989 it had doubled to 102 members. In 2001 it stood at 126. The leaders of the congregation were: Howard Good (1962-1967), John Snyder (1968-1991), Glenn Brubacher (1992), Allen Rudy-Froese (1993-1999), Mary Burkholder (2000), Christina Reimer (2000), Scott Brubaker Zehr (2001- ).

Scope and content note

This fonds contains bulletins (1979-2002), executive council meeting minutes (1983), congregational meeting minutes (1960-2000), annual reports (1988-2000, 2002), correspondence (1967-1975), Church council meeting minutes (1960-1969), stewardship/building committee meeting minutes (1962-1965), and directories (1990-1999). The records pertain to the development of the Mennonite congregation in Kitchener, Ontario. They document some of the leaders and participants in the congregation.
