Butterfield, Minnesota (Bergthal, Minnesota) (p. 185)

Some of the settlers from the Bergthal Colony did not like the land that had been assigned to them in Manitoba. They sent scouts to look for better land in Minnesota. During the spring of 1875 twenty-eight families moved from the East Reserve in Manitoba to Butterfield, Minnesota. For many years the settlement was known as Bergthal, Minnesota.
