Historical note

Abram F. Wiebe, church leader and farmer, was born on November 19, 1889 in Plum Coulee, Manitoba. He was the oldest of 9 surviving children born to Jacob and Susanna (nee Froese) Wiebe. He was baptized on June 4, 1909 and became a member of the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church. He married Helena Martens on October 11, 1914. Their marriage produced five children, one of which died in infancy. Wiebe was elected to the ministry on June 15, 1937 and ordained at Kronsweide on March 6, 1938 by Aeltester Peter A. Toews. In June of 1945 Wiebe was elected as a delegate to Paraguay and subsequently became a leader in the Reinland Mennonite Church in Paraguay. There is little known about his life after he immigrated to South America except that his first wife died in 1951 and he then married the widow Maria Klassen (nee Kehler) in 1956.

This fonds contains one sermon preached on 14 different occasions.
