    Historical note

    Peter S. Wiebe (1888-1970) was born to Johann D. Wiebe and Barbara Peters. On November 26, 1916 Peter married Justina Dueck (1896-1967) and together they had at least one child. For a time he taught in the German school in Chortitz near Steinbach, Manitoba. Peter was elected as Bishop or Aeltester of the Chortitzer Mennonite Church of Manitoba on March 16, 1932. He held that position until his retirement in 1962 or 1968.

    This fonds consists of a photocopied sermon entitled "Meinem Austritt Predigt = My Departure sermon" written by Peter S. Wiebe.
