Short term (Weekend to four or more weeks)

• Note: these programs are offered through Mennonite Church USA
• Group Venture
  • Age 15-18, high-school-aged group, a weekend to one week, building cross-cultural relationships, variety of service opportunities
• Youth Venture
  • Age 14-20, 1 to 4 weeks, service and learning program, variety of national and international service opportunities.
• MENNO Project Colombia
  • Age 18 and older, 2 weeks, service and cross-cultural learning experience in Colombia.

Short-term Service provides groups and individuals of all age a unique opportunity. By working cross-culturally "across the street and around the world", participants may grow in the knowledge of God as well as mature in their Christian lives.

Groups and individuals will spend between 1 week to 6 months doing service projects in a local church or community that will be arranged with the group hosting and the sending group. There are more than 25 places to choose from.

Work may include cleaning and construction projects, assisting in soup kitchens or shelters, working with the elderly and children, and others. And there will be even opportunity to go sightseeing and more. Simultaneously, new friendships will develop.

New opportunities for service projects are opening at a national level in places like New Brunswick, Quebec, Saskatchewan and other places.

Meanwhile, relationships at an international level with countries such as Colombia, Germany and others are being reinforced.

And exciting new relationships are beginning to be initiated with countries such as Cuba. In all of these ways, participants learn about others by living and spending time with people from different backgrounds.

Longer term (10 months to three years)

• Service Adventure
  • Ages 17-20, 10.5 months End of August - Beginnning of next July, community living, variety of service opportunities.
• Mennonite Voluntary Service
• Age 20 and older, 1-3 year commitment, community living, variety of service opportunities.
