Mongolia: A Glimpse into the Life of the Mongolian Church

We invite you to share with your congregation the following story from Marlow and Vicky Ramsay, Witness Workers in Mongolia. The story should take no more than 2 minutes to read aloud. You might also wish to include the story in your church newsletter. This story is part of Equipping #82 January 2008.

In Mongolia, Mennonite Church Canada Witness Workers are involved in the administrative ministries of Joint Christian Services International, a group of mission agencies made up of 15 member organizations. Ministries include English teaching, theological education and economic and community development in a country with a new and growing church.

Marlow and Vicky Ramsay, witness workers recently wrote the following after 4 days of traveling through southern Mongolia:

In the last week of September, we took a four day weekend and visited Omnogobi the southern most province in Mongolia with some friends. The ladies decided to count the camels we saw and ended up with over 1,300 not counting the one we ate in the local restaurant. The scenery was spectacular and apart from three flat tires everything went pretty much according to plan. While looking for a place to get our tire fixed in a town called Dalanzadgad we found a church which was identified by the makeshift cross nailed on the side of the building. When we stopped by they were having their Saturday morning devotions (I’m not sure if they meet everyday or not) and there were about 10 people of various ages gathered in the small 12’ by 12’ shed. We were able to spend a bit of time with them and pray for them before going on our way.

We can thank God and celebrate together as Marlow and Vicky Ramsay continue to work with local Christians to encourage and nurture a new and rapidly growing Mongolian church.
