Alberta Native Ministry

Overview

Alvin’s low-key ministry with the Siksika people has spanned over a quarter of a century. The ministry includes supporting several small congregations and church leaders in the community, and visiting families, individuals, the ill, and people in prison. Alvin, a retired farmer, serves as a volunteer and feels under-girded by the prayers of many people who are aware of his ministry.

The circle of support around the Siksika First Nations east of Calgary started from the low-key volunteer ministry of one couple from a nearby Mennonite congregation. Interest grew in their home congregation and beyond as others heard and saw the ministry that was happening. A few others in Mennonite Church Alberta congregations also took notice and have become involved in various ways. Pray that others will come forward to expand the circle of involvement and support.
