Manigotagan Ministry Circle

Norman and Thelma Meade

Norman and Thelma live in Winnipeg, but provide volunteer pastoral leadership to this northern congregation in their home community. Hospital and home visitation to people from “back home” is an important part of their ministry in the city. Pray for wisdom, strength, and discernment as they minister in both the northern and southern contexts.

The Manigotagan Community Chapel is the church home to people of this community, people from the nearby Hollow Water First Nation and Seymourville community, and a number of cottagers who spend time in this area along the eastern shores of Lake Winnipeg. Speakers for the Sunday morning worship services are always welcome. A highlight of the church year is the Family Camp weekend in early September. The Northern Lights Gospel Singers of Manigotagan have an important singing ministry and are well-received wherever they minister.

Expanding ministry to children and youth in their area is a clear vision for the congregation. The Steinbach Mennonite Church continues to work with the congregation to provide children’s and youth activities in the summer. Pray that more congregations will join this ministry circle and become involved.

Murray and Ruth Martin

Murray and Ruth served Mennonite Church Canada Native Ministry and Mennonite Central Committee in the community of Hollow Water, MB for several decades. When their employment with Native Ministry ended in 2000, they chose to remain in the area to support families, engage in Bible Study, and to serve actively in church and music ministries. Pray for joy and wisdom in their ongoing ministry.
