World Of Witness - Russia

Ministry

Conditions in Russia are stabilizing. Economic development has become a reality in certain sectors of Russian society, but the rural population still faces many challenges. Evangelical and Protestant churches still experience some restrictions and struggle to be fully recognized alongside the Orthodox and other churches. Small, but resilient Mennonite congregations still gather and claim their belonging to the global Mennonite body. Mennonite Church Canada supports the ministry of pastor Heinrich (Andrei) Peters in the congregation at Novosibirsk. William Yoder works in the external relations department of the Russian Baptist Union in Moscow and serves as the Mennonite Church Canada liaison with the Mennonite communities in Siberia.

Celebrations

  • New members are joining the congregation at Novosibirsk.

Challenges

  • Finding ways to support the faith and mission of dispersed communities, such as Novosibirsk, Kudrino, Tomsk, and Ustj-Tarka.

Partners

  • Mennonite Mission Network (MMN)
  • Russian Evangelical Alliance
