World Of Witness - Vietnam

Ministry

The Mennonite Church in Vietnam has been growing steadily in recent years. The government of Vietnam has made significant efforts to officially recognize several Christian denominations and is allowing for more religious freedoms. In 2007 the Vietnamese government granted official status and recognition to the Mennonite Church in Vietnam, yet some churches continue to experience harassment from local authorities. While the Mennonite Church in Vietnam continues to grow, there is an increasingly urgent need for theological and biblical training for its church leaders. Mennonite Church Canada supports a training program that offers seminars for pastors and church leaders in the areas of church history, theology, and Biblical study. These training programs are providing a critical sense of Christian unity and theological grounding for the leaders of the Mennonite Church in Vietnam, many of whom have little formal training. Mennonite Church Canada has no mission workers in Vietnam, but assists representatives from North American Vietnamese Mennonite Fellowship (NAVMF) who visit Vietnam to encourage believers and implement the training program. Pray for effective training of leaders and for unity in the Mennonite Church in Vietnam.
