Elfrieda and Peter Dyck Tell MCC Stories::A Glad Responsenarr.: Peter Dyck
"Little Peter won't be with us much longer," wrote Dyck's father in 1920. Dyck and many others in Russia were on the verge of starving due to war and drought. The same year North American Mennonites met to plan sending aid to Russia. Dyck explains how MCC got its "colorless name," how a young shoe-factory owner bacame MCC's first volunteer and how at christmas in 1921 MCC food arrived in his village in Russia, saving many lives. In "A Glad Response," long-time MCC worker and renowned storyteller Peter Dyck engages a live audience with the story of MCC's beginning and its evolution over the past 75 years. After World War II, MCC helped some 12,000 Mennonite refugees from the Soviet Union find new homes. VHS VideoEnglish • Junior High-Adult • 55 min. Mennonite Central Committee • Winnipeg • 1995
