Praying for Peace, Paying for War:1996This year's packet invites congregations to explore the issue of paying income taxes that go for military purposes, and to participate in an effort to secure a legal way to redirect taxes toward peaceful purposes. Purpose is not to advocate for forms of civil disobedience such as tax withholding, rather the intent is to encourage congregations to support a legal alternative to the payment of taxes for the military.
