Turning Toward Peace:

Dollars and Letters to Columbia

This packet of information invites you to help our brothers and sisters build peace in Columbia. In a country already torn by decades of violent conflict, Mennonites in Columbia are deeply committed to sharing the peace of Christ. There are several articles in the packet which describe the hopes and struggles of Colombian Mennonites and their efforts to make peace under trying circumstances. There is also a description of the peacemaking efforts which your contribution will support.

The packet also includes background information on the military aid package, a biblical study on war taxes by Willard Swartley and excerpts from a Mennonite statement on violence. There is also a pamphlet on "Controlling Federal Income Tax Withholding" and a brochure on the U.S. Peace Tax Fund Bill. which describes the ongoing effort to provide legal alternatives to paying taxes for war.
