Bursting In and Breaking Out:Year C, Advent to Epiphany 2009/10by: Elsie Rempel
illust.: Ryan Roth Bartel
During the season of Advent, God’s children approach
Christmas with a unique focus. This year during the
weeks of Advent, we are invited to anticipate, explore
and celebrate the unexpected ways God “bursts in” and
“breaks out” in our personal experiences as well as in
the wider world and cosmos. During the two weeks after
Christmas the focus changes to being sent as “the body of
Christ” to live out the church’s cosmic vocation in our local
contexts. Imagery of sun, moon, and stars are often used to reflect
God’s dominion, while images of light and darkness, of seeking the right path
reflect our way of joining God’s activity. BookPart of At-Home Advent-Epiphany Resource. English • All Ages • 20 pp Mennonite Church Canada • Winnipeg • 2009
