Along the Streets and Sideroads:

A Public Prayer Walk for Peace

What does the Bible mean for us on the occasion of Remembrance Day when public ceremonies seem to justify war and violence? What are we called to say as people who believe in the gospel of peace? How can we pray for peace in a time of fear? How can we follow through on our belief that "to remember is to work for peace?"

This year Mennonite Central Committee encourages us to plan a public prayer walk for peace as a way of letting God's light shine before others. By going into public places along the streets and sideroads of our communities, we share the message of peace in a broader way.

As is done every year on Remembrance Day, let's acknowledge the ceremonies and the memories of war, and let's utter fervent prayers for peace.
