A Peace and Justice Lectionary

The biblical journey of God's people toward the vision of God's shalom is a bumpy and meandering journey at best. There is much brokeneness, warfare, and violence of all kinds along the way. Sometimes the signposts pointing in the direction of God's shalom are barely visible or scarcely recognizable. At other times the pointers are prominent road signs, highly conspicuous, and impossible to overlook. This lectionary lifts up both the subtle and the direct scriptural passages that point us on a journey toward God's shalom. We are challenged to read them, ponder them, meditate, even question them. What are the visions of peace and justice that these texts set forth?
