Church Matters: Episode 16:

Healing and Hope in the Event of a Pandemic
Guests: Randy Gesell, Physician; Pam Driedger, Eden Mental Health Centre, Winkler; Janet Bergen, Menno Home, Abbotsford, BC; Gord Friesen, Chair of Church Pandemic Preparedness Taskforce, Rita Friesen, Nurse

One cannot prevent a tornado or earthquake, but working volunteers are often at the ready when it comes time to recover. In a pandemic situation, prevention and preparedness are key because the many ready volunteers may themselves be ill or be fully engaged with their own families and needs. A pandemic will stress the public health system beyond capacity – governments will turn to churches and non-profits for help. So how can the church prepare? Listen in to learn more about how the situation might look, and what churches can do.
