Today and tomorrow almost 800 people from across
Canada, including 500 youth and youth sponsors, are traveling to
Charlotte NC for a joint assembly with MC USA. Please pray for safety
in travel. Pray also for God’s guidance to the delegates as
they make weighty decisions. (To guide your prayers more specifically,
check the internet www.mennonitechurch.ca/events/charlotte/
for up-todate news about the Assembly all week.) Thank-you to all
delegates and participants for coming. |

While Mennonite Church USA and Mennonite Church
Canada meet in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the joint Assembly,
Witness workers continue to serve God and the church around the
world. They too are gathering together with followers of Christ
to worship God, to fellowship, pray and break bread together, united
in the purpose of the church. Together with you and your representatives
that are going to the Assembly, we continue to look at what God
would have us do throughout the nations. Let us support one another
in discerning the future and purpose of God’s church. |

Yesterday the joint MC Canada / MC USA assembly
and youth convention wrapped up. Give thanks for the thousands of
youth who leave with renewed enthusiasm for following Jesus, for
the hundreds of children who leave with a greater love for God,
for the thousands of young adults and adults who leave with a greater
love for the church and determination to serve God. |

The fun and friendships of summer camp helped Anna
learn more about what life could be like when God’s love and
fairness expresses itself thru caring relationships. For some campers,
it’s the first time they hear Bible stories and their teachings.
Your support for Cliff & Natasha Dueck and the congregation
in Ukraine helps children attend summer camp, where they learn about
and experience God’s love. |

Jack Suderman is teaching a summer course this week
entitled “The Missional Church: From Vision to Practice”
through the Graduate Theological Studies at Conrad Grebel College.
Pray that students in this course will discover the implications
for the church in light of dramatically changing social assumptions.

This next weekend, the Brazil Mennonite Church will
be celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary. Mennonite Church Canada
has been involved throughout these years, with mission workers,
grants and prayer support. They are grateful to God for this support
and feel well established, praising God for what has been accomplished.
Thank you. |

International mission workers from Mennonite Church Canada Witness
and Mennonite Mission Network (USA) are gathering for 5 days of orientation,
debriefing, fellowship, worship and rest. Pray for renewed energy
and sense of purpose as they go out and serve God among people of
many nations. |

As mission workers gather in Pinawa, Manitoba, at the mission seminar
this week, they will share their cross-cultural experiences with others,
re-energize, and receive encouragement. Your support of Witness International
Ministries helps workers retool, share vision, grow and reconnect
with congregations. |

Cliff and Natasha Dueck, with their congregation in Kherson, Ukraine,
are taking a leading role in camping ministry this summer. They expect
to touch the lives of over 70 campers, in two groups, ages 9-13 and
14-17. Children and youth from Kherson and neighboring villages will
attend. Pray for the camp staff and the children, that the peace of
Christ might be taught and known through this ministry. |
