September 4, 2005

Pray for an easy transition for George & Tobia Veith and family as they return to Macau, joining Tim & Cindy Buhler in strengthening the church and its presence in a city known for its gambling and prostitution. Pray for the Veith children as they begin attending a new school.

A Retirement Dinner for Walter Franz, Director of Native Ministry, is being held Tuesday, Sept. 20th, 6:30 pm at Sargent Ave Menn. Church in Winnipeg, MB. All are invited. RSVP requested by Sept 16th.

Pat and Rad Houmphan, MC Canada Witness workers, have just returned to Thailand after a one year North American Assignment. Your support in their next term will purchase land and a building for the Living Water Church in Burabur, Thailand, expand local economic development and further church planting activities.

Pray for churches around the world who are providing an alternative to violence, showing God’s way of love and acceptance of all peoples. Pray especially for the Mennonite Church in Colombia where they are responding to injustices and pain by taking in broken people, providing healing and hope for a better world. Pray that we might follow their example of faithfulness.

Sherry Peters of Manitoba is beginning a term in Belfast, Northern Ireland where she will be assisting in peace and reconciliation work between the Catholic and Protestants. Your support assists MC Canada be a peace witness to troubled neighbourhoods around the world.

The leadership in the Native Ministry program of Mennonite Church Canada Witness is undergoing changes as Walter Franz retires and Neill & Edith von Gunten prepare to take on the responsibilities. Pray for a smooth transition and strong ministry of leadership development, constituency education, facilitating partnerships and networking.

 

The church in Niedergoersdorf, Germany continues to resource its people and the neighbourhood as it ministers holistically through worship and social services. Your prayer and fi nancial gifts help provide leadership to the congregation through Witness workers Jake & Dorothy Unrau.

September 25, 2005 Publishing Sunday
The Christian nurture of children, youth and parents depends on appropriate curriculum and study materials. Pray for the writers and producers of the new Gather Round material to be introduced in 2006. Remember Anna Speicher, project director and editor for this project as well as the various writers and planners who are devoting their gifts to this important mission of the church.
  This weekend, Conference Ministers and Mission Leaders from across US and Canada have gathered to worship God and for planning and resourcing each other as church leaders. Your support strengthens the church as their influence and inspiration reaches across the nations.
