World Communion Sunday
O Lord, you prayed, “I in them and you in me that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me...” We pray for grace and courage to faithfully pursue your vision of your church world-wide.

 

Mennonite Church Canada invites applications for the positions of Executive Secretary for MC Canada Witness (1.0 FTE), and Mission Partnership Facilitator for Africa (.4 FTE) and Europe (.3 FTE). For a list of qualifi cations and responsibility areas for each position, see the job descriptions posted at http://www.mennonitechurch.ca/getinvolved/ jobs/. Please direct your correspondence to Dan Nighswander, General Secretary, dnighswander@mennonitechurch.ca, about the Executive Secretary position, and to Jack Suderman, Executive Secretary, Witness rjsuderman@mennonitechurch.ca regarding the Mission Partnership Facilitator position. Application processing will begin October 11th.

This week Noe Gonzalia of Ontario has joined Jack Suderman & Janet Plenert in teaching the bi-annual weeklong sessions of a leadership training course for local pastors in Cuba. Your support encourages and strengthens this rapidly growing church. The enthusiasm of the leaders reaches well beyond their church.

Give thanks to God for the many opportunities we all have in sharing the Good News of God’s Kingdom. We believe that what God has offered us is worth sharing with a broken world. God is so good, with a deep heart for all, and we are grateful for a community of faith willing to participate in making things right with and for God.

Mennonite Church Canada Witness is mandated to lead, mobilize and resource the church to participate in holistic witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Your support assists MC Canada be a part of this witness to troubled neighborhoods around the world.

A group from Langley Mennonite Church in BC are presently in Thailand assisting Pat & Rad Houmphan in their church’s English Camp. Pray for the participants of this service trip as well as those attending the camp, that the church’s witness in their community is welcoming and transforming for all involved.

First Mennonite Church in Calgary, AB is hosting “A Taste of Mennonite Church Canada from across the street to around the world” evening, beginning with a banquet, and including stories and vignettes from staff and Council members. Please contact Marvin Baergen ph: 403-256-2894 for tickets for this event on Sunday, October 24th, 2005 at 6:30 pm.

A group of 16 people are participating in a Mennonite Church Canada China Learning Tour from Oct 11 – 27 where they are experiencing the Chinese church and it’s believers and meeting a number of Chinese students who are taught by Witness workers. They will see fi rst hand, what your support to the ministry in China is doing.

Churches across Canada are spending more time looking carefully at their programs and ministry and seeing how they help bring about God’s Kingdom here on earth. Give thanks to God for the many believers who take seriously the call to be faithful.

This weekend, the Christian Witness and Christian Formation Councils met in Calgary to review and plan the work of Mennonite Church Canada. Your support strengthens the church, as their infl uence, inspiration and vision help shape the ministry that we do together.
October 30, 2005 Mennonite Heritage Sunday
We stand on the shoulders of the generations who have gone before us. Give thanks for the way you have been ‘carried’ by your parents, grandparents and others - all those who have nurtured your faith and awakened you to the redeeming love of God.
  The La Mesa School in Colombia is celebrating its 50th anniversary this weekend, as well as having a ribbon cutting ceremony for the expansion that has just been completed. Many people have supported this growing school that is run by the Colombian Mennonite Church. Your fi nancial gifts have impacted many children in getting a good education, many of whom have become leaders in their communities.
