January 1, 2006

On this day of new beginnings, pray for grace to lay to rest the pain and trouble of the past, and for a daring faith that steps forward boldly into the new paths which a loving and trustworthy God lays before us.

Call for Quilters and Fabric Artists: Mennonite Church Canada wants to host a Quilt and Fabric Arts Display & Auction at Edmonton 2006. Needed are expressions of interest and committment to participate. Find out more at mennonitechurch.ca/events/edmonton/quilts.html

Mennonite Church Canada Witness begins this new year with Janet Plenert as the Executive Secretary. Your prayerful support, and fi nancial gifts, are important to the national and international ministries in Witness which lead, mobilize and resource the church across the street to around the world.

January 8, 2006

Pray in this season of Epiphany that every believer might have the grace to live unpretentiously yet boldly as living epiphanies of the Presence of Christ in all the world.

Brian Dyck and Lynell Bergen, returning Witness workers from South Africa, are speaking in churches during January and February, sharing what we can learn from the African Initiated Churches as they worship the same God and live out the gospel in southern Africa. Your support helps spread the word, helping churches learn from one another.

January 15, 2006

Jake and Dorothy Unrau, Witness workers in Neidergoersdorf, Germany, are presently in Canada for two months. Pray for the congregation in Germany as they continue to serve God thru the church in their community and for the Unraus as they travel to churches.

With the help of volunteers, Mennonite Church Canada Witness sends out PrayerNet on a monthly basis, keeping churches and individuals informed about prayer needs and praise items of ministries and workers. Your fi nancial gift supports this powerful ministry.

January 22, 2006 Pray for Witness worker Omar Cortes-Gaibur, Santiago, Chile, as he continues to give leadership to church leaders across South America thru the Latin America Theological Fraternity as well as teaching Anabaptist Theology at the seminary in Santiago. Pray for wisdom, strength and clear guidance as he provides inspiration and leadership in these settings.   Young people in Kherson, are attending Bible studies with Cliff and Natasha Dueck, Witness workers in Ukraine. They are learning about the difference God’s way of life can make in their lives and in their community. Your contribution gives leadership to young adults seeking alternatives to what they see around them.
January 29, 2006 Pray for Nima, a widow with three children who received a new home in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, through the help of Joint Christian Services International. Marlow Ramsay, MC Canada Witness worker, was involved in helping Nima and her family get a home after learning about how she found needed items for survival by sorting through garbage.   Being efficient stewards of resources by defi ning areas of cooperation and by identifying ministry gaps and potential overlaps is what leaders from different Anabaptist mission agencies (Council for International Mission) will discern when they meet together this weekend. Your support helps this process of collaboration and effi ciency building.
