Lent 5: “O merciful Lord, help us to be so centered in your mercy that we will offer mercy to one another, to our neighbours and to our enemies.”

Jack Suderman, General Secretary of Mennonite Church Canada, will this month visit every congregation in Alberta and numerous congregations in Eastern Canada as part of the God’s People Now! Listening Tour. To learn more, or find out when he will be in your area, visit mennonitechurch.ca/events/tour2006/

Palm Sunday: “O God of compassion, just as Jesus returned to Jerusalem to face injustice and hatred, give us courage to return to the Kingdom mission to which you have called us.”

Jack Suderman, General Secretary of Mennonite Church Canada, will this month visit every congregation in Alberta and numerous congregations in Eastern Canada as part of the God’s People Now! April 16, 2006 Easter Sunday: “O resurrected Lord, we confess that on Easter morning, we are children on the threshold of mystery. Help us to hear your voice speaking “Fear not.” Open our eyes to see you going before us into our world to transform us into a new people that we might worship and serve you with love and freedom so that the world may see your Presence through us.” Mennonite Church Canada’s financial year has ended with a small surplus. Thank-you to the generous congregations, individuals, and corporate donors, many of whom gave sacrificially in 2005 to support ministries for abused women in Chile, walk with AIDS sufferers in Africa, do youth evangelism in Mongolia, assist native congregations in Canada, and much more.

April is convocation month at Columbia Bible College, Canadian Mennonite University, and Conrad Grebel University College. Pray for the new graduates of these schools as they leave the classroom and begin a life of service in society. Pray for all these graduates that they will find receptive faith communities who will encourage and strengthen their gifts for ministry and service. Pray that each one will find a faithful expression of their calling.

April 30, 2006 The Resource Centre offers resources to encourage spiritual growth in the homes and congregations of Mennonite Church Canada. Pray for Arlyn Friesen Epp and Anita Neufeld as they expand the Centre as the access point on line, or on foot, for sharing the wide variety of resources and gifts God has given to the people of Mennonite Church Canada.
