Witness Notes:

This is how your financial support of Mennonite Church Canada WITNESS is ministering...from across the street to around the world!

December 3

First Advent

“Thy Kingdom Come, O Lord, we pray as we look ahead. Yet you have already come and have lived among us. But still, we continue to long for your coming again to bring peace and justice, so that our swords will become ploughshares and our spears, pruning hooks.”

In Spain, Connie and Dennis Byler are teaching others about the Anabaptist tradition. Your support makes it possible for Mennonite Church Canada to work with Mennonite Mission Network (USA) in supporting the Bylers’ ministry in Spain.

December 10

Second Advent

“O Lord our God, we confess that we too often respond to your Coming with a mild piety, denatured of passion and power. Awaken us, O Lord, so that we can prepare for your coming; so that we can straighten the roads of injustice for the Coming of newness and peace.”

This year, the Zaparozhye Bible College and Seminary saw an unexpected increase in the number of students enrolled for English classes. Your support enables Bonnie Friesen, in Ukraine, to continue leading Bible Studies and teaching English at the school.

December 17

Third Advent

“O Lord, save us from our exhaustion, despair and the desire to quit. Open our imaginations to the wonderful newness that your Kingdom brings. Prepare us to be messengers of the Good News of your coming Kingdom.”

Glenn Witmer’s biblical history teaching in Israel/Palestine leads others toward a greater understanding of peace. Thank-you for your support and involvement in Glenn’s ministry in Jerusalem.
December 24

Fourth Advent

“O Lord Emmanuel, we are awed by the mystery of your coming to be with us. Raise our eyes to the present hope of your salvation. Restore us, O God, let your face shine upon us that we may be saved.”

The Frey-Yoders in Benin were thrilled to have several interns with them from various congregations in North America. Thankyou to all who have taken part in this type of volunteer ministry involvement and thank-you for all the financial support that makes it possible for the Frey-Yoders to continue their work at the Benin Bible Institute.
December 31

“Our Saviour and Lord, you have come to us. You have broken into our dark world. Like the shepherds, sleepily tending their flocks, may we awaken to the cosmic impact of your coming. Disrupt our order and routine with your glory, we pray. Like them, may we respond by searching for your presence, in worship and in joyful witness.”

The Global Mission Fellowship is a week long Mennonite international event focusing on mission. Thanks to your support, Mennonite Church Canada is able to take an active role in making this event possible for missionaries and church leaders around the world.
