Witness Notes:

This is how your financial support of Mennonite Church Canada WITNESS is ministering ... from across the street to around the world!

April 1

Today we remember the day that Jesus entered Jerusalem as the humble prince of peace, riding a donkey. Pray for Mennonite Church Canada Witness worker Glenn Witmer and the MennoJerusalem Biblical Study and Travel Program taking place April 28th May 19th in Israel, Palestine, and Jordan.

Working together for a better world: The Colombian Mennonite Church invites all Mennonite Church Canada congregations to join them in Days of Prayer and Action for Colombia, May 20 – 21. Convened by the Coalition for Peace in Colombia, they ask that we “Pray for Colombia, for an end to the 60 year old war here, and for the Mennonite, Mennonite Brethren and Brethren in Christ churches here so that our witness will be as clear and strong as yours has been.”

Congregational Leaders from across Mennonite Church Canada will gather at Grace Mennonite Church in Regina March 30-April 1 to explore the ways worship can transform congregational life and inspire new vision for ministry under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Your support is helping to nurture visionary leadership and revitalize congregational mission.

April 8

On this day we celebrate Christ’s resurrection and we can thank God for the growth of the church in parts of the world like Kotoura, Burkina Faso. Mennonite Church Canada Witness worker Anne Garber Kompaoré shares that that the pastor of the Kotoura church is assisting other Mennonite international workers in evangelism and church planting work amoung the Nanergue people.

A Mennonite Church Canada Learning Tour just returned from South Africa and Botswana where they witnessed the day-to-day lives of Witness workers and the people with whom they minister. Your support makes it possible for workers to minister in the areas of HIV/AIDS and theological and Anabaptist education in an area very affected by violence and poverty.

April 15

Please pray for Mennonite Church Canada Witness workers Lillian and Norm Nicolson as they finish up a session of rigorous studies in British Columbia and begin itineration in congregations across Canada.

In China, the Rural Pastors’ fund continues to strengthen rural churches and church leadership. Mennonite Church Canada thanks you for your support to this ministry in China and your continued support of the Christian presence in China through Mennonite Partners in China (formerly China Educational Exchange).
April 22 The Unraus, Mennonite Church Canada Witness workers in Germany, request your prayer as they, their congregation, and their partners of the Christliche Glaubensgemeinschaft discuss and discern the future direction of leadership in this ministry. Please pray that there will be a spirit of good-will, a common vision, clarity in communication, and a desire to work together in unity. The Colombian Mennonite Church held an annual assembly on March 16th-18th where they processed some leadership changes and discussed future ministry direction. Because of your support of Mennonite Church Canada ministries in Colombia, visionary Christian leaders can continue to bring teachings of hope and peace to a church that is deeply affected by the surrounding culture of war.
April 29

Thank God for a great response to the need for international workers in Korea! Mennonite Church Canada is excited that several new workers have accepted positions for service in Korea working with Connexus, the language ministry school associated with the Korea Anabaptist Center.

MC Canada’s new radio broadcast and podcast “Church Matters” can now be heard on the radio or online (www.mennonitechurch.ca/tiny/158). Your support is helping listeners understand the unique role that the community of God’s people – the church – plays in bringing God’s healing and hope to our world.
