Sept 2 |
Cheryl Woelk, Witness worker at the Korea Anabaptist
Center (KAC), was invited to be part of peace
camps in East Timor from July 25th to August 23rd.
The peace camps are run by Frontiers, a KAC partner
organization. Cheryl already held several workshops
with Frontiers to aid in curriculum development and
teacher training for teachers and volunteers of the
peace camps. Please pray that the peace witness of
the church will be strengthened through these camps
in a country that has experienced considerable unrest. |

The Houmphans, MC Canada Witness workers in
Thailand, tell us that the construction of a new church
building in Thailand continues with help from local
staff. Construction is expected to be complete in
October. Please pray for the congregation and team
leaders of the fellowship in Borabu as this church
building project continues, and for the Houmphans as
they re-engage their ministry in Thailand after their
North American Ministry. |

Mennonite Church Canada Staff meet together on
September 10 for an annual Staff Retreat at Camp Assiniboia to focus
on our understanding of and commitment to Mennonite Church Canada’s
priority of “Becoming a Global Church.” Your support of
MC Canada is helping us al become a global church together. |

In South Africa, MC Canada Witness workers Dan
Nighswander and Yvonne Snider-Nighswander have been focusing their
work on the Way of Life Church in Khayelitsha, a township at the edge
of Cape Town. Pastor Xola of Way of Life Church has a passion for enabling
the church to better serve thecommunity. Dan and Yvonne ask you to
pray for the leadership of the Way of Life Church and for Pastor Xola
Skosana as they work toward bringing wholeness to the people of the
Khayelitsha community. |

Will and Ana Loewen, and Vanessa
and Mark Wiehler recently
attended MC Canada’s Mission Seminar in Pinawa in preparation
for their terms in South Korea where they will work in ministries associated
with the Korea Anabaptist Center. Your support that makes it possible
for Mennonite Church Canada to continue a productive partnership with
the Korea Anabaptist Center – Thank-you! |

the gifted people who write and prepare study, worship and prayer
resources for the spiritual nurture of the church and its witness

Update: As of June 30, 2007, MC Canada
donation income was 5% ahead of
projections. $2.4 million is still needed
to meet our $3.6 million donation revenue target. MC Canada leadership
is deeply grateful for each congregation’s partnership in helping

Anne Garber Kompaore, Witness worker in Burkina Faso, is returning
to North America for a short time of North American Ministry. She
will be visiting church
partners, friends, and doing some theological study. Please remember
Anne during this time as she shares experiences of the church in
Burkina Faso and the challenges of linguistic work with her friends
and church family in Canada and the US. |
