At the end of this month Glenn Witmer is completing his service with MC Canada Witness and Mennonite Mission Network in Israel. Please pray for him as he makes plans to remain in Israel and engage in ministry under new arrangements. Also pray for Gordon Janzen and Tim Froese as they visit Israel/Palestine this month to discern further involvement of MC Canada in that part of the world.

Eastern Mennonite University is offering an on-line course on “Basics of Parish Nursing,” Oct. 1 - Dec. 14, 2007, open to any registered nurse or upper-level nursing student in an RN nursing education program. Professors and staff at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary faithfully teach and mentor men and women who are preparing to become pastors and leaders in our congregations. The General Board of AMBS will be meeting from October 18-21 to engage the vision of theological higher education for the church that your support of AMBS makes possible.

Please pray for Vic and Kathy Thiessen, Witness Workers in London England with the London Mennonite Centre which is partnered with 15 other organizations that share Anabaptist values as part of the Root and Branch Radical Christian Vision Network. This network “has a vital role to play in the revitalization of Christianity in the UK.” Please pray for the Anabaptist witness of the London Mennonite Centre and for the Thiessens as they soon start their final 3 year term at the Centre.

Please pray for Todd and Jeanette Hanson, witness workers in China who serve in a context where Christianity and Christians are often looked upon with distrust, fear, or suspicion. The Hansons talk about the necessity of imagining various solutions in a problematic context so that we as a Christian family find ourselves continually being creative about our ways to minister.

Mennonite Voluntary Service Opportunity The Toronto Mennonite Voluntary Service (MVS) unit welcomes applications for the following service positions in the Fall of 2007: Volunteer Coordinator - Habitat for Humanity; Furniture Pick-up and Retail Assistant - Global Closet Thrift Shop. Volunteers are actively supported and encouraged by the Danforth Mennonite Church. Join a community of volunteers serving the community through local Christian non-profit organizations. Oct 28 Please pray for Will and Ana Loewen who recently arrived as Witness Workers in South Korea and were immediately welcomed as part of Jesus Village Church in Chuncheon. Upcoming joint meetings of Native Ministry (Canada) and Native Mennonite Ministries (US) on October 25-27 in Clinton, Oklahoma, hosted by the area’s Southern Cheyenne congregations, will explore the possibilities for the Native assembly in 2008 and an invitation from Indigenous conferences of Paraguay for Mennonite World Conference in 2009.
