Scott Bergen, Dorothea Toews and Rebecca Willms will leave for Paraguay this month on behalf of MC Canada to assist with Mennonite World Conference (2009) preparations. Pray that this cross-cultural service and learning experience will open windows on the nature of God’s global church and help these young adults to discern their own place within it. Where’s Waldo? Check out the photo gallery from this summer’s Mennonite Church Canada Assembly and People’s Summit for Faithful Living at www.mennonitechurch.ca/tiny/534 and see if you can spot anyone from your congregation. The Mennonite Heritage Centre Gallery began operating as a fulltime exhibition space in August 1998. We thank God for 10 good and growing years and anticipate, with continued donations, an exciting next 10 years. This fall we look forward to exhibitions reflecting on art by victims of violence in cooperation with MCC, on Mennonite suffering in Russia and on women with breast cancer, in a third Faces of Courage portrait exhibit by Betty Smith, this one opening on the artist’s 81st birthday.
September 14 On this day, Mennonite Church Canada celebrates the Sunday Schools within our congregations. Pray that God’s wisdom and understanding will flow through leaders and teachers to bless and encourage the students in their care. Praise God for the ministry of teachers and leaders in our congregations who nurture the faith of people of all ages! Find out what kids think it means to be Mennonite–and catch up on a few other 2 minute video vignettes of this summer’s Mennonite Church Canada Assembly and People’s Summit for Faithful Living at www.mennonitechurch.ca/tiny/534. Mennonite congregations depend on the availability of biblically-based study and learning resources to nurture the faith of people of all ages. Thank God for the ministry of Mennonite Publishing Network, and for the teachers and leaders in our congregations who use resources such as Gather ‘Round, Adult Bible Study guides and other learning materials to increase faith, wisdom and understanding. Thank you for your support of these important ministries.

Hyo Sook Yun recently completed a one-year term with MC Canada Winnipeg staff through Mennonite Central Committee’s International Visitor Exchange Program and has returned home to South Korea. During her stay, Hyo Sook produced over a fifteen video titles for MC Canada, all of which have been posted to You Tube (see www.youtube.com/mennonitechurchca). Pray that God will bless Hyo Sook during this time of transition and help her discern the next step in her journey of discipleship. Check out the first episode of the 2nd season of Church Matters podcast at www.mennonitechurch.ca/tiny/158. Tim Froese, Executive Director of International Ministries, together with Wilmer Martin, President of TourMagination will lead a Learning Tour to Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay in conjunction with Mennonite World Conference in 2009. Participants will visit and learn about Anabaptist churches in South America and meet MC Canada Witness partners in variety of locations. Thank you for your support of these Witness partners!
September 28 Pray for continued encouragement and support for Lucy Roca, church planter of several newer Quebec congregations, and pastor of an emerging Spanish-speaking Mennonite congregation in Sherbrooke, Quebec. MC Canada Witness Workers at home for North American Ministry (NAM) recently gathered at Mission Seminar for orientation, debriefing and fellowship. They shared stories of growth, transformation and encouragement from around the globe. Thank you for your continued support that allows MC Canada to send these workers abroad, ministering to the world and building God’s global church.
