All January, 2010

God, we are grateful for the many ways you have expressed your love for us and the continual renewal you offer us through Christ. We pray that you will show us how to carry out your will on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

Your encouragement and support have enabled us to create a new website that promotes non-violent approaches to peace building. See liveforpeace.org to learn more. Praise God for revealing new ways to share God’s message of healing and hope!

TEXTILE/FABRIC ARTISTS are invited to participate in Acts of Peace/Art for Peace, an exhibition at the Mennonite Church Canada assembly in Calgary, June 29-July 3, 2010. Please pray that God will bless the peace building efforts of MC Canada Witness workers to the Philippines, Daniel and Joji Pantoja. Through Peacebuilders Community, the Pantojas are education people from all sides of conflicts in non-violent approaches to building peace.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support in making the MC Canada Youth Assembly 2009 a great experience! Please pray for planners as they prepare for the 2011 Youth Assembly, in Waterloo Ont. Thanks for your continued support!

The K-9 students of Menno Simons Christian School in Calgary are taking part in Mennonite Church Canada’s “1,000 Acts of Peace” initiative. From sharing ideas for peace in chapel time to participating a variety of service projects and recording three acts of peace each day in their journals, they are making the exploration of peace their school mission. Pray that God will bless these students in their efforts – and that those efforts will be contagious!

With your support, Mennonite Church Canada is engaged in a ministry partnership with the Union of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Chile (UBACH). This sister church relationship has contributed to the development of CERCAPAZ – the Anabaptist Christian Resource Centre for Peace – allowing UBACH, the national Baptist denomination, which is seeking to recover their Anabaptist roots, to resource their congregations and other interested churches and bring non-violent conflict transformation to a society where violence is far too common. Thank you for helping us to share Anabaptist principles with our Chilean brothers and sisters! We are grateful to all our congregations for the prayers and encouragement we have received in 2009. We especially thank God for the providence and guidance that allows the work of the kingdom to continue. May we all participate with Joy.

Stewardship Sunday

On this Sunday as we focus on faithfully managing all of God’s gifts to us, including material benefits, pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal to each of us how we might best share those gifts to build God’s Kingdom.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support in making the MC Canada Youth Assembly 2009 a great experience! Please pray for planners as they prepare for the 2011 Youth Assembly, in Waterloo Ont. Thanks for your continued support! Mennonite Church Canada’s Peace in the Public Square Campaign – Live for Peace – got a great launch in Calgary. For stories and more check out liveforpeace.org.
