April 3
Good Friday

Lord, our hatred, greed, selfishness, jealousy and dishonesty make this world a darker place. Our sin placed Jesus on the cross. Remind us in our sorrow that your love is greater than all of our despair.

Your support has enabled Mennonite Church Canada to relate with three distinct groups of Anabaptists and Mennonites in Chile: the Union of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Chile UBACH), the Evangelical Mennonite Church, and the Puerta del Rebaño congregation in concepción. Through these connections, we are responding to the earthquake of Feb 27, 2010.

We thank God for Vic and Kathy Thiessen, for a long and fruitful ministry as Mennonite Church Canada Witness workers at the London Mennonite Centre in the U.K. Vic’s gifts will find a new home in the role of Executive Secretary, Support Services beginning on April 12.

Easter Sunday

Dear God we praise you for the power of your forgiving, life-giving love through Jesus Christ. We thank you for raising Jesus from the dead, and for your wonderful, transforming gifts of forgiveness and salvation.

Your support of ministries like alternativeservice.ca, a website about Conscientious Objectors in World War II is making a difference in the lives of our youth! A Grade 12 student recently responded to the site with a“thank-you” message, and wrote that learning about the faith and determination of COs inspired her to re-examine her own commitment.

Visited your MC Canada Resource Centre lately? We add 3 new titles every day. Check mennonitechurch.ca/tiny/480 for our latest acquisitions.

May God provide comfort and resources for Chileans as they face the devastation caused by the earthquake of Feb. 27 and the resulting tsunami that devastated southern coastal towns. Please pray that problems of looting and violence will be overcome with compassion and solidarity. (WoW Prayer Directory, pg. 115)

Planning for Mennonite Church Canada’s Assembly 2010 in Calgary, Reclaiming Jesus™: Gladly Bear the Name, based upon Colossians 3:15-17, is now well underway. We are grateful for the energy and enthusiasm of you, our volunteers and delegates, who contribute to making this annual event a spiritually enriching affair!
April 18 Please pray for God’s leading during this time of discernment as the search team seeks for a new General Secretary who is inspired and nurtured by God, and called to give leadership and vision to Mennonite Church Canada. Current General Secretary, Robert J. Suderman, will retire from the position later this year.

Praise God for Congregational Partnerships!
By building relationships with mission workers, partners, or projects,or with congregations of another culture, you are helping us to connect with the Global Church. Thank you for helping us to spread messages of the hope and peace we have in Christ.

100 new DVDs
have recently been purchased at the Resource Centre – great for home viewing and small group study. Your support of Mennonite Church Canada allows our library to offer these and many more thousands of specialized resources for loan, sale or download.

April 25

Loving, living God, your Son has become our teacher and brother, our example and companion, our servant king and Lord. Help us to walk humbly with Jesus and serve with him, even when others turn against him.

Borrow, purchase, download, link!
Thanks to you,the mantra of Mennonite Church Canada’s Resource Centre is catching on. For the past three years, the Resource Centre has kept track of those using their electronic services. Since 2007, downloading has almost quadrupled and during the same time, book and DVD loan circulation has increased by 15%. Thank you for continuing to support the Resource Centre, bringing educational materials from an Anabaptist perspective to our congregations.
