Subject: Assembly expenses for St. Catharines 2003

We are grateful that so many congregations send pastors, leaders, and delegates to the annual assemblies of Mennonite Church Canada!

To assist you in preparing your congregational budget for this activity next year, we are pleased to provide cost projections for the Mennonite Church Canada annual assembly on July 9-13, 2003 at Brock University in St. Catharines, ON. Please note that all costs are preliminary only. Final negotiations with Brock and other service providers have not yet concluded, and may affect the final costs.

Registration

Preliminary information suggests that registration costs will be in line with recent years. The early-bird registration fee is again expected to be $75, with an increase to $90 after the early registration deadline, which is typically in mid-May.

Meals

A conference meal package will be offered through Brock’s on campus dining facility. Preliminary prices are as follows:

  • Breakfast $7.00
  • Lunch $9.25
  • Dinner $11.75

There are several café and fast food outlets on the Brock campus for “pay as you go” meal service, as well as a few restaurants within easy walking or driving distance of the campus.

Accommodation

Delegates will have 3 choices for accommodation:

  • Billeting with a local host – No charge. Pre-registration through MC Canada office required.

  • On campus housing at Brock – Approximately $35/night per person.

  • Local hotels, motels, and campgrounds – A number of options across a broad price range will be included in the registration information. Delegates may make their own arrangements at the location of their choice. As an example, the St. Catharines Days Inn offers a week-night double room for $99, exclusive of taxes or conference discounts.

Travel

St. Catharines is approximately 60 minutes from the Hamilton airport, serviced by WestJet, and approximately 90 minutes from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, serviced by all major Canadian airlines. Please contact a local travel agent for more detailed costs for travel from your region.

Final costs will be included in the St. Catharines 2003 registration information, which you may expect in your congregation in the spring of 2003.
