Please pray for Chris and Lois Leuz, China.
They have begun a new teaching year at the
Chengdu University in Sichuan province and
face new challenges and opportunities for
Christian witness. |
Giving to MC Canada up to the end of July is at
35.9% of the budgeted income. This is just 0.9%
less than projected for this time frame. We
continue to pray for and be thankful for the
congregations, individuals, and corporate givers
who faithfully support the church’s efforts in
witnessing to and nurturing all God’s people. |
Todd & Jeannette Hanson, MC Canada WITNESS
workers in China, have been leading a teacher training
course for local school teachers. The course includes
teaching English through peace-building using the CEE
curriculum. Hansons also led the China Education
Exchange’s summer language program in Beijing. Your
support is appreciated as together we share God’s word
in China |

At the Mennonite Church Canada Assembly in St.
Catherines, a resolution was passed that asked for
reaffirmation of our commitment to an ethic of service
and to explore and implement ways of maintaining
Christian service opportunities for congregationally
based Christian service ministry in Canada. We
encourage each congregation to pray for the wellbeing
of service units in Canada and for a lifestyle of
service and discipleship for all church members. |

This past weekend, over 30 leaders of multi-cultural
churches in Manitoba gathered for Anabaptist and Missional church
training, facilitated by Mennonite Church Manitoba. Samson Lo, MC
Canada’s director of Multi-Cultural Ministry is also present
at these workshops. Your financial assistance to Mennonite Church
Canada WITNESS helps keep these links alive. |

This past weekend, Donavon Jacobs, Mennonite
Church Canada Witness worker with Native
Ministry, facilitated a course on pastoral
counseling for Native church leaders. Please
pray that the participants are able to take what
they have learned back to their communities,
feeling better able to support the needs in their
congregation. |
The MC Canada web site (www.mennonitechurch.ca) averages
about 500 visitors and 7,000 hits per day. This on-line presence is
not only rich in resources and news, but has also generated $12,000
in on-line giving in the last year. Your prayers of support for this
ministry to the wider world are appreciated. |
Bruce Yoder and Nancy Frey, mission partners in Benin,
work at the Benin Bible Institute, assisting with the
biblical and theological training program for church
leaders. Bruce has traveled extensively with Ghana
Mennonite Church leader, Pastor Michael Badasu,
visiting 22 congregations and interacting with church
members in 6 districts. Your support for Mennonite
Church Canada WITNESS assists in leadership training
and this encouragement. |

At this past Mennonite Church Canada Annual
Assembly in St. Catherine’s in July, Peter Stucky,
President of the Colombia Mennonite Church, spoke of
how the church is seeing its call to be a place of peace
and one that will teach others God’s way. Colombia
has been engaged in violent civil and social unrest for
over 50 years. Among the church community, this
semester alone, 28 pastors and church leaders have
been killed. Peter Stucky challenged us to model
God’s will for peace. Pray that this may be so. |
