April 4, 2004 O Lord Jesus, on that day when you entered the city on a donkey, the people cheered triumphantly, but you wept. Forgive us when we have triumphalistically celebrated our programs while ignoring the sin and brokenness of our world. Teach us your compassion and your tears. Anna Rehan began her work as Youth Ministries Facilitator for MC Canada on March 15. Find out more by visiting www.mennonitechurch.ca/news Mennonite Church Canada Witness supports the Mennonite Seminary in Colombia with a grant. The grant helped them bring Rebecca Yoder Neufeld for an intensive course on Christian Education for 25 students this past year. Thank-you!

April 9, 2004

Good Friday

As the passion of our Lord is dramatized on the big screens of our cities, help us, O God, to enter the mystery that just as you were present in the suffering and abandonment of our Lord, so you are with us in our suffering and in the suffering of this world. None this day None this day
April 11, 2004 O Lord Jesus Christ, just as you broke open the tomb, and emerged victorious, break open the tombs that bind us and liberate us to live in resurrection hope and the power of your love. “Enough for all” (from John 6:1-14) is the theme of this year’s MC Canada Assembly in Winkler 2004. Plan to attend. In Chile, Omar and Ester Cortes-Gaibur, Mennonite Church Canada Witness workers, rub shoulders with people who suffer family violence. Through the 5 & 2 Multiplying for All project, the present workshops, educational programs in communities, and provide group therapy for abused women. Your gifts bring life to others.
April 18, 2004 Cheryl Woelk, Mennonite Church Canada Witness worker in Korea, is engaging in deeper dialogue about faith and church with her host family, the church and Korean Anabaptist Centre. Pray for the church struggling to return to the radical vision of Christian community as seen in the scriptures. “Enough for all” (from John 6:1-14) is the theme of this year’s MC Canada Assembly in Winkler 2004. Plan to attend. Pat and Rad Houmphan, Mennonite Church Canada Witness workers, are planting churches in north-eastern Thailand. They work with believers in Bangaeng and Borabur, where people come from 5 different villages. With help from MC Canada, they hope to plant another church in the surrounding district by next year.
April 15, 2004 Gerald Neufeld is involved with Kirishima, Oyodo, and Sadowara Mennonite churches in Japan, preaching and participating in regular Bible studies. Pray for Gerald & his wife Rie as they support church leaders and learn from each other. Interested in being a delegate at this year’s MC Canada Annual Assembly? Contact your church leaders and visit www.mennonitechurch.ca for information. George & Tobia Veith, Mennonite Church Canada Witness workers in Macau, are finding ways to encourage the youth in the church. One was recently baptized and two more are considering membership. These youth are attracting more young people. Your support does help the church to grow.
