Samson Lo,
Director of Multi-cultural Ministry

Purpose Statement:

The Multi-cultural Ministry works under and with Mennonite Church Canada Witness in building connections and identifying appropriate processes with the many congregations of Mennonite Church Canada that are newer and of less traditional ethnic/cultural origins to Mennontie Church Canada.

In the context of Canadian society, which has more and more become a microcosm of all of the world's ethnic, religious, linguistic and racial diversity, we seek to work towards integration of people groups within Mennonite congregations, and cooperation among people of different ethnic, social, national, political and religious backgrounds. By doing this we hope to promote peace and justice among all nations, inspire reconciliation and anti-racism, and foster unity among the diversity.

Our goal is to work together and participate in holistic witness to Jesus Christ in a broken world, reaching from across the street to around the world.

Diversity in the Mennonite Church: A Canadian Edition.

It’s a church within a church. Every Sunday, about 2000 members of this church gather to worship. It has no official name, but includes 40 congregations that worship in 12 languages; 29 of these congregations have formed since 1975. They represent 5.5 percent of the 250 Mennonite Church Canada congregations. And they’re growing. It could be called a miracle—especially since there is little Mennonite/ Anabaptist material available in their rainbow of languages…
