MC Canada's Six Core Competencies for Ministry, with Study Lists
PART OF SERIES Ministerial Credentialing Series
Six “core competencies” have been identified by Mennonite Church USA and Mennonite Church Canada that enhance effectiveness in ministry and should be considered in the process of testing one’s call to ordained ministry. Also identified are the “knowledge base” and “skill sets” that undergird each competency.
While this document has formally been used by credentialing bodies for interviews towards ordination, it is a resource which needs to be reviewed by all credentialed ministers periodically. These competencies are not markers to achieve once and then disregard, but rather six signposts for lifelong effective and balanced ministry.
Included in this series are the competencies themselves, a narrative commentary that provides a more detailed exposition on each of the six core competencies, and a short assessment tool.
