The Donkey Who Wanted to Be a Camel: A child's Christmas play with carols

Many children may be involved in this charming musical playlet about the stable animals who gave gifts to the baby Jesus. The camels brought the wise men, the oxen gave their manger for his bed, the kittens purred a lullaby. The donkey envies them all, for he feels his gift of carrying Mary and the unborn Jesus into Bethlehem wasn't good enough. Surely a camel could have done it better!

But two more significant times would the donkey carry Jesus: on the flight from Herod into Egypt, and many years later on the first Palm Sunday, when Jesus rode to Jerusalem. The donkey finally realizes that everyone has a unique, special gift to offer the Christ child.

Ample casting flexibility by adding or subtracting groups of animals. Features many one-line parts and nonspeaking parts. Play time app. 45 minutes.
