Pain and Praise: The Book of Psalms

The psalms are lyrics to songs people wrote to respond to God in both the pain and joy of their lives Like popular music, psalms express a wide variety of emotions. Seeing that the Bible is dealing with the same issues as contemporary artists can bring those ancient writings to life. Through examining different kinds of psalms, and with a backdrop of contemporary music, youth will learn to praise God, cry out their distress and grief, express even intense anger to God. Like the psalmists, they will explore what it means to trust God in crisis, and how to maintain an attitude of thanks in a materialistic world.
